Aluminum Scrap We Buy
Manufacturers, fabricators, and demolition and construction contractors generate aluminum extrusion, sheet, coil, plate, castings, wire, and turnings. We buy aluminum and all of its alloys, wrought and cast. Tell us the alloy if you know it, or tell us it's mixed. Our minimum is generally 2,000–4,000 lb per load, depending on grade.

Aluminum
Wrought and cast aluminum in all forms, from sheet, coil and extrusion to castings and turnings.
Aluminum alloys and scrap types we buy (full list)
Wrought vs. cast: aluminum comes in two main categories. Wrought alloys usually have 4 digits and are grouped into series; cast alloys usually have 3 digits, sometimes with a letter (for example, A356).
Wrought series:
- 1xxx: at least 99% aluminum. Electrical conductor and bus bar.
- 2xxx: alloyed with copper. Aircraft parts.
- 3xxx: alloyed with manganese. Heat exchangers.
- 4xxx: alloyed with silicon. Welding wire and brazing sheet.
- 5xxx: alloyed with magnesium. Marine components and storage tanks.
- 6xxx: alloyed with magnesium and silicon. Extrusions, framing, and automotive parts.
- 7xxx: alloyed with zinc; among the strongest aluminum alloys. Aircraft components.
Aluminum scrap we buy:

Forms we buy
- Solids: sheet, plate, clip, bar, rod, tube, wire, punchings, and assemblies
- Turnings: turnings, borings, and chips

Prepared aluminum solids are under 4 ft in length, width, and height, under 2,000 lb per piece, and clean. See prepared or unprepared.
We don't buy metal in dust form.
Our don't-buy list applies to every aluminum item, including radiators and transformers. See what we don't buy.
How to describe your material
The more you tell us, the faster we can quote:
- Alloy or series, if you know it (for example, 6061, 6063, 5052, or 7075). "Unknown" or "mixed" is a fine answer.
- Wrought or cast: wrought alloys usually have 4 digits; cast alloys usually have 3 digits, sometimes with a letter (for example, A356).
- What it is: extrusion, sheet, coil, plate, castings, wire, foil, turnings, or items such as radiators, transformers, and wheels.
- Iron or steel attached, as with old sheet with iron attached or irony extrusion.
- Wire: bare or insulated, and the type if you know it (EC wire, ACSR, triplex and quadruplex cable, building wire, or power cable).
- Prepared or unprepared (solids), using our standard.
- Oil or coolant on turnings.
Keep it separate to protect its value
- Keep cast apart from wrought.
- Keep 7xxx alloys (7050, 7075, 7475) apart from 3003, 5052 and 6061.
- Tell us if iron or steel is attached.
- Turnings are welcome; dust is not.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between wrought and cast aluminum?
Wrought alloys usually have 4 digits and are grouped into series, from 1xxx to 7xxx. Cast alloys usually have 3 digits, sometimes with a letter, such as 319, 356, or A380. Keep the two apart.
Do you buy aluminum with iron or steel attached?
Yes. Old sheet with iron attached and irony extrusion are on our list. Tell us what's attached and email photos to sales@arrmetals.com.
Do you buy aluminum wire and cable?
Yes: EC wire, insulated aluminum wire, ACSR, triplex and quadruplex cable, aluminum building wire (XHHW), and aluminum power cable (URD, MCM). Tell us whether it's bare or insulated.
Do you buy aluminum turnings?
Yes, wrought and cast, for example 6061, 7075, 356, and A380. Keep alloys apart where you can and tell us about any oil or coolant.
